Expenses included in TimeCard reports
We are happy to announce that the workgroup version of TimeCard now has a new feature that has been much asked for ‒ a possibility to add Expenses to each appointment, in addition to the TimeCard properties. This feature has been on our to-do-list for long, but since the development is rather troublesome we have not done it until now. The reason we finally could add the Expense feature to TimeCard is a sponsorship from Southwest Washington Workforce Development Council. This TimeCard customer helped us with part of the development cost, and now you can all benefit from their investment. To make use of the Expenses feature the administrator needs to enable it in Common Settings. When that is done, all users will get this button in the TimeCard toolbar in Outlook. Press it, and an Expenses dialog will open. Here the user can enter Mileage, Cost for mileage, Allowed expenses per day, Other costs and a description if needed. These labels may be customized by the admin to suit each organization's line of requirements. For more info, refer to the updated manual and a new faq. If you are a kalmstrom.com Support Customer, you are welcome to upgrade your installation and get the new Expenses feature. If you are a Single user you will have to wait some more for this feature, but it will be added in that version of TimeCard also. And if you don't at all use TimeCard yet, now you have another good reason to do it! Why not download the workgroup version and see if it suits your organization too? | Easier Maintenance of PF HelpDesk
The kalmstrom.com flagship product is still the issue tracking application Public Folder HelpDesk, even if several of our other software have taken up the fight. Now kalmstrom.com has released an update of PF HelpDesk where two small applications for easy maintenance of the product is added. The PF HelpDesk Settings have a new tab, Maintenance, and under it you can find:
- A button to fix corrupt Outlook tickets. These tickets open in normal note form and have a yellow-pinned icon.
- A button to fix tickets in the database which are set to opened, but don't have a corresponding Outlook ticket. All such tickets can be set to closed by one single click.
As usual all kalmstrom.com Support Customers, are welcome to upgrade! Kate Kalmstrom Sales Tuesday, June 30, 2009

| .NET language problem solved kalmstrom.com started using Microsoft .NET Framework when HelpDesk OSP was developed last year, and now we have also included this component in the new version of Calendar Browser. The advantages are many, but unfortunately there have been some problems with the non-English languages. Both apps should get the same language as the operative system they are installed on, but this has not always worked. Therefore we are grateful that our capable technicians, led by CTO Bahrur Ipham, have now solved this issue by modifying the method to get the language from the OS. New versions of both products were released Friday. We are happy to announce that they are now fully tested with Windows 7. If you use one of them and want to go over to Microsoft's latest OS, you can do this without problems. Most of the other kalmstrom.com software also work with Windows 7. For HelpDesk OSP we can also announce another improvement. For security reasons the password is now encrypted before it is saved to the Settings file, so you don't have to worry about saving your login details to the SharePoint site anymore. | Glad midsommar - Happy Midsummer!
Today is Midsummer's Eve, or midsommarafton in Swedish. To many Swedes it is the best holiday of the year. The celebration of Midsummer's Eve was from ancient times linked to the summer solstice. People believed that midsummer plants had miraculous healing powers and they therefore picked them on this night. It was also a good time for young girls to see the man they would marry. It was said that she would dream of her husband-to-be if she picked seven different flowers without talking or laughing and then went straight to bed with the flowers under the pillow. She could also eat a very salt porridge, and the man who gave her water in her dream was the man she was to marry. Nowadays midsommarafton is always celebrated on a Friday. Even if most of us live in towns today, we still like to spend Midsummer in the countryside. Many begin the day by picking wild flowers and leaves for the maypole, see the image above. When it has been raised traditional music is being played and people dance ring dances around the maypole. Some wear traditional folk costumes. After that the celebration goes on, often during the whole night as it never gets really dark. In the north of Sweden the sun never sets at all, a striking contrast to the dark winter months. We eat the year's first strawberries and potatoes, and pickled herring with sour cream is traditional Midsummer food. I wish you all a nice weekend, whether you celebrate midsommar or not!
